Color energy in your sacred space
Most of us are so busy during the day that we have a hard time hearing that quiet voice of our inner guidance.
By creating your sacred space – a place dedicated to keeping your spiritual energy flowing – you can maintain your spiritual connection with life and All That Is. Indeed, just one little corner in your bedroom to retreat to and spend time alone in quiet meditation allows you to reflect on your day and focus on the goals you want to manifest. If you are religious and follow biblical doctrines, creating this type of sanctuary and alter is perfect for prayer as well as meditation.
Unless you already have a special, peaceful place set up in your home, I suggest you create a sacred space so you can take a few moments of silence each day – just for yourself.
Consider opening up any corner in a room and to create your sacred space there, or empty a closet of its clutter and toss a couple of pillows upon the floor for use in quiet prayer or meditation. It needs to be a place where you feel comfortable and you will not be disturbed. (Set boundaries by deciding who else is allowed into your sacred space.) A dresser top or small table can be your altar, a special setting for your sacred objects.
Once you have decided on the area, remove all clutter and dust and vacuum it. Next, invite new energy in to make your space a sanctuary of spiritual comfort. One way to quickly clear out old energy is to burn a sage smudge stick. You can also cleanse the space with a clearing meditation or by listening to uplifting spiritual music. Having a window open in your sacred space allows fresh air and sunshine for healing and happiness.
A fresh coat of paint on the walls might be nice, but if you’re in a rental home like me — and you have white walls that you can’t paint — you can get creative and decorate the walls with colorful sarongs and other hanging items that are special to you.
The final step in creating your sacred space is to have spiritually meaningful objects on and around your altar. I love color and like to fill my space with colorful personal items such as silk scarves, plants, flowers, feathers, crystals, sea shells, candles, tarot cards, photographs, a special silk sachet bag with lavender, soft pillows, and a journal. Other goodies could include wind chimes, a tabletop fountain, dream catcher, drum, harp, teddy bear, inspirational books, found items, grandma’s quilt, and any other pleasing visuals, sounds, or scents.
The most important thing about a sacred space is that you feel comfortable, safe, and relaxed there. You will soon find yourself drawn to your sacred space more and more as you make time for stillness, silence, and solitude.
You can change the color of silks on your altar to completely change your mood, energy, and intention. Each color has its own wavelength of vibrating light energy and frequencies of colors affect different energies of your body. Using color to restore balance and harmony is amazingly easy. Just pick a color to use in your sacred space, depending on what you want to focus on during your meditation or goal-setting session.
Red is for good luck, prosperity, energy, confidence and courage.
Orange is used for creativity and joy.
Yellow is for self-esteem, inner power, wisdom and positive energy.
Green is good to use for harmony, healing, balance, and abundance.
Blue is for communication, self-expression and visionary manifestation.
Purple is good to enhance psychic awareness, clairvoyance and intuition.
Pink is known for good health and life, connecting us to Universal love.
These photos show what this sacred space looks like with an emphasis on pink (good health and life, love), as well as blue-green accents (emphasizing healing, balance, and manifestation). I change the colors of the accent silks often, depending on my mood.

While I have a sacred space in the corner of my bedroom just for me, we also have a “family altar” in our dining room with a special feather, sea shells, a painted dish, and affirmations written on small pieces of paper in a small terra cotta pot. The pieces of paper have words written on them such as joy, love, abundance, fun, happiness, and so on. We all pick a piece of paper out of the pot and discuss what that word means to us, which typically reinforces gratitude and the law of attraction.
The colors of the silks and different flowers are used, depending on the season or what we want to focus on. For instance, when we use an orange silk, we focus on joy, and when we use green, we focus on health and abundance.

My daughter has created a sanctuary in her room with her special items on a table. She keeps a journal of her dreams and loves the color blue, horses, pandas, and dolphins.

If you travel and like the comfort of having some of your sacred items with you, you can simply roll a few things in a silk and then set up your items in a hotel room. Items, in addition to a silk cloth, could include photographs, shells, and crystals and anything else meaningful that can be carried on an airplane.
By harmonizing the vibrations of our space and creating sacredness in our day-to-day life, we can transform little corners of our home into sanctuaries of positive energy, health, and harmony.
